Professor Guido Mannaerts is a double boarded Bariatric (GI) and Oncology surgeon from The Netherlands. In his previous assignment he was the chairman of all surgical services (COD) at Tawam Hospital (UAE), where he worked for nine years, and where he was renowned for his vast surgical skills. Prof. Guido received his surgical training at the renowned Catharina Hospital and the Maastricht Academic Hospital in the Netherlands (1996-2002), after which the Royal Dutch Surgical Board has granted him double fellow-ship certification for the super-specialisation of Gastro-Intestinal surgery as well as Surgical Oncology.
Prof. Guido received his MD at the University of Amsterdam at which university he also obtained the first year certificate in Economics.

Prof. Guido Mannaerts completed himself a PhD-thesis titled “IORT-containing multimodality treatment for locally advanced primary and locally recurrent rectal cancer (ISBN 90-367-1418-4)” under supervision of Prof. dr. Th. Wiggers on 6th of June 2001 at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. He is also Currently, he is supervising PhD student randomized controlled trials (RCTs) research projects.
As a result Prof. Guido published over 80 international PubMed registered peer-reviewed articles and is a frequently asked international speaker. Moreover, he has organized multiple national and international surgical conferences, including the annual Arab Health Surgery conference for the Gulf region.
