Patient selection: The Single Anastomosis Sleeve Ileal (SASI) bypass is still an experimental procedure.
Procedure: A sleeve gastrectomy is created and next a connection is made between the stomach sleeve and the ileum in order to partially bypass the duodenum and a large part of the small bowels. A part of the food will follow the gastrointestinal tract like in a sleeve and other part of the food will following the tract like in the mini-bypass.
Result: This is a new experimental procedure and thus long-term results are not available. Advantage is that the chance on vitamin shortages might be lower in this procedure.
Disadvantage: Not yet known
